A basic slingshot question

Question:

Assume that prior to drawing back the pouch, it is 10" from the fork.

You pull it back 20" to 30" from the fork.

Would the speed of the projectile be the same if it is released from the pouch at 10" as it would if it was released after it passed the fork?

Good question, Stu, I'm really not sure of the answer myself. I guess it all boils down to releasing the projectile when the bands have reached their peak speed. Where that occurs, I'm not exactly sure. I imagine a high speed camera would show us a lot on the dynamics of a slingshot's firing. You are really getting me interested in slingshots again. I just haven't had the time for hobbies lately.  :(
