Looks like your project is coming along.  ;D That is a clever trigger system. Have you tried any test shots yet?

Stu, just checking to see how your sling airgun has been coming along. I'm looking forward to seeing some shooting action!

http://www.huntersfriend.com/2007-Carbon-Arrows/arrow-selection-guide5.htm

Good data.  My goal is to make a rubber powered gun that will shoot an arrow faster than the fastest compound bow.

My goal is 400-600 fps.

I am working on a completely new concept.

Slingairgun.

I shot my first projectile a few minutes ago.

.25" diameter steel slingshot ball, muzzle loaded with a piece of greased cloth.

I aimed at a piece of pine wood about 4 feet away.

A single pair of Silver bands.  I can add 4 more pair.

The pellet made a 1/4" deep dent into the wood and it bounced off.

I was impressed at how fast it seemed to travel.

Thwat!

The gun held together fine.

The spoon trigger was very smooth.

It has proven the concept that a 3/4" piston will drive a 1/4" ball with compressed air.

I need a chronograph.

Next, a video.

That sounds cool, I can hardly wait to see the video. You definitely wont regret buying a chronograph, it is some of the best airgun money you can spend. I'm curious as to how shooting your airgun compares to a spring piston airgun. I'm wondering if there is less recoil with your setup. Also, how much noise does it make when fired?

Looks great! That is a clever safety you put on there. I can imagine what it will do with more bands.  ;D Have you experimented with different patch materials? Patch thickness will become very important when you add more bands.
