I thoguht about that too but I think for the fast swap it would be better to have a quick disconnect... or have a very short thread that would seal and hold the air tank with just a couple of twists... but would that be strong enough?

Have a look at some hydraulic fitting.. They have quick disconnect couplings and other things that would work for you relatively low pressure.. I was considering using hydraulic fitting and then I realized that they were only rated for about 1,500 psi

i know i need stainless pipe, and my dad is a black smith, and his boss is a metallurgist, so i have plenty of metal knowledge available. this project will have to wait though, cause right now my budget is around $20.... and it needs to be at least $250, $180 for the pump, at no less than $70 for the fittings and pipe, maybe MUCH more. right now i'm building a .843 shotgun/cannon, with the idea that at say 100 psi, instead of 56 pounds pushing a .5 mm nail point into a board, i'll have around 84 pounds. also, i'll be able to shoot .75 bearings.......
