10gram papercone naildart. The cone is pretty thick so maybe it'll take the pressure. Here are some pics

Last time I made something like that it tumbled like hell  ;D Hope it works for you tho... what paper are you using?

A4 paper, the whole sheet rolled up for thickness to withstand the high pressure. Is the tail too long? I tried to have a drag resistant cone.
last time you fired a dart like this, what was the psi on your gun, and what was the length/diameter of the chamber. :-\

I dont think thats one piece of A4 anymore... you had to cut it somewhere  ;D I mean how heavy/thick the paper is? You have your regular 80 gram per square meter, some stuff in the middle and heavy 200 gram per square meter... beyond that its cardbaord.
It was 400 psi and 60cc of air. It flew out, tumbled, hit the target sideways and bounced back at me... almost hit me in the feet.
From the picture I can see the paper is pretty thin... if you got the nail far enough inside the cone and if it doesnt turn to confetti when you fire, I think it shouldnt tumble that much but it wont be very stable either.
Balancing diameter, nail size, cone length and cg of nail darts is some tricky stuff because it can only be done through trial and error. Or calculations if you're an aerospace engineer  ;D

Have you test fired it?

Yeah I did cut the back of the cone to fit a barrel size. The paper is Double A. and I rolled it 8 layers thick. I think it will handle the pressure :P hopefully. Well all I can do now is try, thru trial & error. Funny thing is I've never had a dart tumble b4, just once a cone burst to pieces, but then that cone was only 1- 2 layers thin.
All penetrated the target, just with varying performance.  :)

Barrel ID 15mm. Try 1.5'' long and 2'' long. Did your cones tear/burst from the shot. Try using thick drawing paper 2-3 layers thick. On the other hand if you are making them too thick they maybe tail heavy and might tumble. Trial and error. A smooth aluminum pipe as the barrel will be IMO much better. But I have used pvc barrels that were good with naildarts too. Could get 3'' groupings at 10-15 yards with them. Don't give up, you could also try epoxy sabots, should be easy to cast but will be a bit pricey.

Good for you. I've seen members here do tons of experimenting to get what they want. & when finally you get the results you want it's really rewarding. I'll be experimenting with diy QEVs soon and I'm sure I won't strike the jack pot right away. But... I really wanna build this airgun bad. Lol :D
