« on: July 25, 2010, 11:21:14 AM »
i'm planing on building an AK47, since theres already an M4 i thought i'd balance the scales. iv'e already got the stock cut out, and a bunch of half inch PVC lying around, so i'll use that.

Cool.. We'll have our own AK47 vs M16/M4 argument  ;D

Same thing for me with the M4.. but you cant just see the looks.

For me, the AK47 is like a weapon for children.. never clean it, just feed it and it will go bang  ;D ...No offense

Are you going with the old style Ak47 or will it be a more modern and modular design like Arsenal SGL21/SGL31 - in my mind the only real competitor to the AR platform?

yes, i'm going for the SGL21 type thing, although right now its got a normal AK stock, i think i might change that, but i might not. as far i'm concerned the M4/AR15's a picky, wimpy, and a total pain. thats just the thing, why should it not go bang if you forgot to oil it recently?!?!?!? i agree that M4/AR15 type things are longer range and a bit more accurate, but within its range(300 or so yards) the AK has more power. anyway, if your shooting at long range don't use a carbine.
use.......... a Dragunov.
now, to my AK's progress:
the stock:

the stock with some pieces that will be used:

i hope you like it. and it has a short magazine, for cosmetic purposes mainly, but also long wooden mags that are not screwed on with the grain going the right way tend to break.

Oh no, the AR vs AK debate has made it here.  ::) lol I'll throw in my vote on the AK, only because I have enough ammo on stripper clips for one to hold off a small army.  ;D I dont have an AK, but love my unmodified norinco SKS. I'd take the SKS over an AK any day, so there's a new twist on the argument.  ;D

It makes no sense to discuss weapons neither of us have experience with.. better watch this

i like the SKS better to. but in homebuilt dump gun air guns, the stock is basically PURELY visual taste, and i prefer the AK in that respect. the SKS is a more rifle and less carbine, which means more power and accuracy...... bit your right this should be an argument about guns, since this is an airgun forum. and i have watched that nutnfancy video Ace. at some point i will make a dragunov air rifle, and that will be cool. but i want to get the bugs out of the system of stock attachment before then.

I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of airguns come out of this thread.  ;D Would you all like a section dedicated to firearms? I'm sure most of us are into conventional guns in one way or another.
