blow gun failure
« on: July 29, 2010, 10:01:58 PM »
i was messing with my airgun last night and the blowgun trigger failed i set it aside to mess with today today i took it apart and found the o ring had blown out i was able to pop it back in but it wont stay in with very much pressure so i had to take it apart many times this evening the last time i took it apart i looked at it the valve itself and saw several mods that would be easy to do and should increase the airflow by quite a bit but what i also saw was i think a cheap and easy way to build a popit valve with mostly off the shelf parts just some real light machining and that could probably be done by a steady hand with drill dremmel etc and could maybe be done also with off the shelf stuff too maybe im gonna build one this weekend and see wish me luck
wouldnt a popit be what was used in the old airguns like lweis and clarks?

I hooked it up as the trigger valve on my airgun easiest way to get a fill valve and a gauge hooked to it i found you had to jiggle it a bit to get it to seal and it started leakin at 200 psi so i put a little bit bigger oring on the front of it and wala holds 500 psi no problem wont make a good triger valve for that though you gotta smak it pretty hard with something other than your hand to trigger it does make it go off fast though might try to make a smaller one for a trigger

Lucky you. lol I had o-ring blowout problems on my QDV, they have to be supported to work. Consequently, my latest QDV is not a full open, I'm leaving enough pipe to retain the o-rings. I've kinda taken a vacation from airguns right now, having a lot of crap to deal with from work kinda takes the fun out of life.  :(
