The pump you've all been waiting for!!!
« on: March 24, 2009, 09:50:23 AM »
So here's my idea. I took the pump part off of a bottle jack including the piston. My plan is to hook that up to my air chamber and pump it up just like a bottle jack!!! the problem I'm having is that I need some kind of one way valve so that the air I pump in doesn't escape when I go for another pump. I'm using this setup instead of buying a shock pump because I want more pressure. My jack is rated for 2 tons so I don't think I will have an issue with getting 800 or so psi out of it.

Sounds like a great idea. You should get alot more leverage with that kind of setup. You wouldn't believe the workout I get from pumping that shock pump to 400 psi.  :D As far as the valve you are talking about, check out mcmaster.com and look through their check valves. You could probably make one of your own too, possibly with less headspace than a premade one. Keep us posted.

I'd probably go with a brass spring loaded one, part # 8549T15 looked pretty good. It has a low cracking pressure and goes up to 3000 psi. With 1/4" npt threads, male inlet and female outlet, it should be very easy to interface with just about anything.
