low cal.(28 or 30) air gun
« on: June 22, 2010, 02:29:06 PM »
my low cal.(28 or 30) air gun is done( well, sort of.... the breach is still held shut with a C clamp....) and it seems ok.... a bit less power than i wanted but it shoots plenty fast, its just that the bullets(cast plaster or cut up metal rods) are SO light they have no oomph. i mean seriously, a 1/4 inch by 1/4inch (about 6 mm by 6 mm) piece of plaster weighs NOTHING!!!(well, close to nothing....) on 150 psi this thing might not even be lethal to a squirrel, my sniper rifle on that same pressure there would no longer be a squirrel. its leaks a ton at lower than 200 psi, and also at over 300, i need to attach the schrader valve better. i think it drops about 10 psi every 2 minutes at 200 psi, until it gets to 150, at which point it starts leaking faster.

will post pics soon.

Very nice, I like the way you set up the trigger mechanism. Quite the workshop you got there.  ;D

i'm thinking i might hold the breach shut with a strong neodymium magnet, but it will be a C clamp for a while i think.  >:D

it still has a C clamp, but now it has a rifle stock, a presta valve instead of a schrader, and a good old spring instead of a piece of rubber, now its remarkably accurate, definitely the most accurate projectile weapon iv'e ever made. i now use only tiny steel slugs. and very rarely i'll use a mini nail dart. all and all i'm very happy with it other than the presta, my shock pump can't come of of it without letting all the air out, which is very bad. so i just have to shoot it with the pump dangling off of it.
