Nail Darts and Chronographs

I wonder of nail darts can confuse an optical chronograph.

If the nail triggers the first gate and misses the second gate (tail cone triggers it) the distance between the nail point and the tail cone would cause an error.

I have used chronographs with arrows before and it seemed to give pretty accurate information.I guess the same error you explain could happen with an arrow aswell.
