To cold.
« on: February 16, 2009, 10:55:36 AM »
It's been to cold here lately to take my gun outside. I can't wait for another warm spell so I can test it on some critters! Right now when I go out in the woods I take my 800x.

Finally got a chance to take it out for some action! I missed twice! I still can't figure out how! I can shoot one hole groups at 25yrds but I can't hit a squirrel!

I know what you mean about grouping well on paper and having a harder time in the woods. One thing I've done to help out is to shoot at silhouettes of squirrels. Shoot from offhand positions and put obstacles like a leafy branch in front. Go for head or chest shots at different angles. Try to see how many "kills" you can score in a short period (like a minute or so) of time. You can also do a bunch of pushups right beforehand to raise your breathing and heartrate. Sounds stupid, but it has helped me. :-[

I think it is because it is so loud and the bullet doesn't go as fast as the speed of sound that the squirrels are getting out of the way before the RB gets there. I have shot probably 1000 TR over the years with my store bought airguns and have never had a problem so that's the only thing I can think of.
