BB Machine Gun
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:23:14 PM »
Spare parts and a couple minutes time, and here is a BB machine gun:
Here is the first round of shots through it:
I had to shake it to keep it firing, so I added a plastic cone I constructed from an empty milk jug. I've got a video of that, but it is kinda dark :(
I'll have to see if I can enhance it, it is really impressive what a gun under $10 can do!

That first shot was at 50 psi, the video I've been trying to upload with no success is shot at 100 psi.  8) It shreds cans up pretty good. I think I can get it to work even better, I'll probably have to do a complete rebuild though to work out all the bugs. I'd estimate it is shooting between 250 and 300 fps, about the same as a Daisy Red Ryder. Not real powerful, but has an amazing abrasive effect...

I think I could shred a bird in no time flat with this. I'd like to set up a bait station in my garage for some mice or rats. It still doesnt shoot as well as I would like, but some metal window screen should fix that...

They are pretty easy to build, you can even make one out of a pill bottle and ball point pen. Do you have an air compressor? These things take a ton of air to work. Anyhow, attached to this post is a better BBMG that I built. The long skinny pipe on the right is the barrel made from 1/8" npt pipe. A couple of bushings convert it to 1/2" npt which is what the cloud chamber is made from. This is where your BB's go. I drilled and tapped a 1/4" npt hole on the bottom of that chamber for the air to go in. A threaded cap on the other end to keep the BB's in and you are done making it. I've got a post that shows what this BBMG ended up looking like here: http://www.airgununiverse.net/community/index.php/topic,20.0.html

How to you attach the barrel? it looks cool, I could just build one for fun out of spare parts in a few mins!
