Electric pump
« on: October 12, 2009, 04:20:10 AM »
Is an electric pump any good, sure looks like it'll save ya a lot of pumping. Anyone here uses an electric pump. the one featured here(12v pump) shows no psi reading. Estimated how many seconds will it take to reach 150psi. :P

electric pumps aren't bad if you want under 200psi...how long it takes to fill your reservoire depends o how big it is???

You might have to try a couple of them before you find one that will last. Back when I wrote the portable air compressor part of the website, they were much higher quality than they are now. The one in this video looks promising: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74VcRWSIqiY. It seems to charge quickly and sounds fairly powerful.

Im afraid the pump will not last because they cost more than hand pumps. will a hand bicycle pump(150psi) capabilities last long. is it durable in general. or are all pumps different according to their brand. Honestly i dislike failure in my equipment its so frustrating. :P

Pretty much you get what you pay for in bicycle pumps as well. I've only bought the $15 ones at Walmart, and they all broke on me. I've heard that some of the better brands can consistently go up to 150 psi with no problems and you can buy repair parts for them as well. Check out this website for some quality stuff: http://www.pricepoint.com/. One benefit of the bike pumps is that they actually pump faster than the electric pumps.

I asked a friend to check out some pumps for me. First the hand pump which has no psi reading how many psi will it go up to. ??? Then my pal found a electric pump, on the psi guage it reads up to 250psi, dont know if the pump can take it? How high should i go. :) Can a steel AG take that kind of pressure, cuz its just threaded with thread tape. No soldering and stuff. Hope there are no leaks at that kind of pressure. :-\

A steel airgun can definitely take 250 psi, the pump might be a different story. I've had 2 electric pumps now that have worked well for me. Check these ones out if you want to go with a more conservative pressure: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=96068 or http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=66399

ive had my steel/iron AG up to unreged co2 pressure [about 800pci] and have never had any problems... I wouldn't reckomend it for you Joe cuz that is allot of pressure it's very loud and will do allot of damage...but just sayin I wouldn't worry about how much pressure your steel can take...im planning on going up to 1500 psi some time this year :]

Wow :o, 800psi thats a lot of power. When using that much pressure do you solder your Steel AG. I'll have to keep my pressure at below 170 psi cuz i dont want my pump to break. nor do i want nosezzy tree huggers giving me long lectures and rude remarks when they hear a loud boom and see a dead feral. ;D haha.

With that much power, what do you usually hunt. Looks like your gun is as good as a real gun :) 150psi already gives my ears a good pounding, dont know what 1500psi will do to our ear drums, probably pop them out. ;Dhaha

im not hunting anything right now...NY state law says that I can hunt red squirrels and woodchucks... I have WAY to much power for both...so im just trying to get it into the 400fpe area so I can deer hunt with it out of state
